Hound & Heirloom

Made to be looked back on.

We photograph dogs and the people who love them — from a relaxed afternoon in the park to the quiet, tender sessions that honor a senior dog's last chapter. Every session is candid, unhurried, and shot on location throughout North Georgia and beyond.

“This all started with our own senior dog, Riley — and the certainty that portraits like these would be among the most treasured things we'd ever make.”

Golden Sessions

Senior & End-of-Life

For the ones who've given you everything.

Golden Sessions honor senior dogs and the deep, unhurried love of a lifetime together. It's a come-as-you-are experience — no pressure, just presence — held either at the magnolia grove or, for pups more comfortable staying close to home, right in your own backyard.

Priority scheduling. We understand these sessions are often time-sensitive. Golden Session inquiries are prioritized, and we aim to schedule your sitting within 24–48 hours — with a handful of preview images sent your way just days after, while the full gallery follows in 1–2 weeks.

Sheena & Jason with Riley — the inspiration behind Hound & Heirloom

Jason, Sheena, and the late, great Riley.

Behind the lens

Made by people
who love dogs.

We’re Sheena & Jason — photographers who’ve spent decades doing commercial work for some of the biggest names in the pet industry, including PetSmart and dozens of household names. We know what it takes to make a dog extraordinary on camera.

But our hearts have always lived somewhere quieter. Hound & Heirloom is what we do for love — slow, intentional sessions with the dogs who matter most, made with every skill we’ve built over a career and none of the rush that comes with it.

Every session is a two-person job. Sheena’s behind the camera, and Jason’s just out of frame — running squeaky toys and treats, holding reflectors and backdrops, and doing whatever it takes to help you and your dog settle in and feel like yourselves. It’s teamwork in its truest form — and honestly, our favorite kind of date.

Questions

A few things people ask.

What's the difference between Magnolia and Golden Sessions?

Same candid, documentary style — different moment in life. Magnolia Sessions are for any family and dog. Golden Sessions are specifically for senior dogs and end-of-life moments, with priority scheduling and the option to meet at your home instead of the park.

Where do sessions take place?

Magnolia Sessions are held at Hickory Trails Park in Canton, GA — park only. Golden Sessions can be at that same park, or in your own home; it's the only session type we offer in-home.

Does my dog need training?

No tricks, no posing, no special commands required. We work with quiet, natural moments and patience. Puppies, seniors, wiggly dogs, anxious dogs — all welcome.

Do you travel outside Cherokee County?

Travel within Cherokee County is included in your session price. Beyond that, just reach out and we'll put together a custom travel quote based on your location.

How many photos do we get, and how fast?

Both Magnolia and Golden Sessions include 20–25 expertly edited digital images. Magnolia galleries are delivered within 1–2 weeks. Golden Sessions come with a handful of preview images within days, with the full gallery following in 1–2 weeks.

Can I print my photos or share them online?

Yes — every gallery comes with a personal print release, so print, frame, and share your images however you'd like. If you post them on social media, we'd love it if you tagged @houndandheirloom so we can share in the joy too. Prints, canvases, and keepsakes are also available for purchase directly through your private gallery.

What if the weather doesn't cooperate?

No worries at all — we'll reschedule your outdoor session free of charge, any time.

How does booking & payment work?

A 50% deposit is due at booking to reserve your date. The remaining balance is collected on the day of your session, before we begin.
